I grew up in a place where it almost never rains, where rain was a reason to go outside just for the sense impression.

Now I live in a place where it almost always rains.

Recently I have wondered about all this, about the metaphor.

Our global civilization in general, I think, is based on fire, on the control of it, on the feeling of it, the light of it.

But perhaps another civilization, in the ancient world, could have been based on water, in the same way…I wondered how it would be different.

Perhaps involving shaping stone, shaping earth, in a manner cryptic, subtle and yet outrageous. 

to have a point of entry, yes,
but under that, to be subtle, 
perhaps even unintentional.
